Welcome to the futures past. The Clockwork Universe is an alternative universe in an an era that blends the dark ages, with an unexpected industrial revolution.

The CWU is an imaginary world that marries the romanticism of medieval chivalry, with the excitement of anachronistic technologies. This unique genre can be loosely related to "steampunk", but with fresh and exciting perspective that helps create a middle ground between popular romantic medieval fantasy with Victorian steampunk.

The technology featured within the CWU is crafted from antique styled mechanisms such as steam turbines, gears, tension springs, forged from iron, brass and copper etc.. to achieve amazing and futuristic goals through overly complex and often obscure means. In the absence of scientific method, inhabitants of the CWU employ the protoscientific field of "Natural Philosophy" which they use to build their theories, beliefs and world view.

Cultures across the CWU world vary, while dualistic themes weave through them all. This is a time when society shifts to seeking happiness through materialistic gain, at the cost of dehumanisation and social and sometimes physical alienation from there friends, families and at times, them selves.
